Wellbeing Engineering™ Learning Kitchen for Sustainable Food Systems

LEARNING KITCHEN

FOOD + SYSTEMS THINKING

Mark Curtiss will be chef collaborator for Learning Kitchen, a systems thinking and doing exploration created by Taletha Derrington, Wellbeing Engineering™ . Consuming food involves multiple systems that most people do not have the chance to learn and think about. “WE Sustainable Learning Kitchen” will take participants through an examination of these systems and how our choices and behaviors can optimize for wellbeing of oneself, family, and community, as well as for the environment, climate, and nature for seven-generation wellbeing.

This will be a learning journey starting with preparing, eating, and discussing a meal and then stepping backwards to identify and examine systems “along the food chain.” With each iteration, we will consider alternative choices in different food chain systems to “optimize” food consumption for the wellbeing of people and planet.

FOOD DECISION POINTS

Every food choice is shaped by factors ranging from personal to socioeconomic and environmental systems. Cook and eat together to examine the systems in your meal and have agency over your food choices.
