Red Dot Ranch is land that supports food and shelter for community.

Land
Humans can be a regenerative part of nature. As degraded soil turns rain into runoff, we face increasing floods, droughts, and rising seas. Our mission is to rebuild soil organic matter—restoring water to the ground, boosting fertility, and helping water find its way home.
Advances in functionalized biochar offer powerful opportunities for circular solutions: reducing wildfire risk by using woody biomass, cleaning water through biochar filtration systems, and enhancing soil health through compost and biochar blends.
Globally, we can sequester over 5 billion tons of CO₂ in agricultural soils each year. Agriculture is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions—but it also holds some of the greatest potential for climate solutions. That’s why we are developing a farmer cooperative to facilitate the adoption and implementation of functionalized biochar solutions.

Food
Food can be a democratic act that respects the land, biodiversity, history, and generations to come.
As we work towards ecological repair and a climate beneficial future, we will need to expand our flavor profiles and taste much more locally. Native and naturalized plants are more climate adapted, require less water and provide habitat for our wild life neighbors.
We all eat — across borders, cultures, and even species, food is a shared experience. While the challenges we face are global, the solutions often begin locally. By growing and eating food that is rooted in place, we can support our communities, honor local traditions, and nourish both people and the planet.

Shelter
“In reality we no longer have the nature we were given, we have the nature we have made.” — Emilio Ambasz
The built environment encompasses all of the planet now and nowhere is this more obvious than our water systems. We take water from one bio-region, use it in another then dump it in the ocean. All the water that exists on earth has been here a very long time. To combat sea level rise, flooding and drought we need to help water get back home.
In Pescadero—just 45 minutes from Silicon Valley—many residents still lack access to clean water and safe, reliable housing. These challenges are deeply connected. When water systems fail or are never built, housing becomes unsustainable. At Red Dot Ranch, we’re partnering with local organizations and water system innovators to build a climate-positive prototype farmworker shelter. This project will feature a decentralized, AI-monitored water system that supports both people and the land—proving that climate solutions can also be housing solutions.
We plant seeds for the long now. At Red Dot Ranch we connect people to place and planet, creating alliances to scale production, adoption and distribution of good ideas.
We believe everyone can be part of regenerating the planet — and at Red Dot Ranch, we’re building a place to show the way.
